Call for Proposals for the XV edition of P.I.W.O. is now open!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of Call for Proposals for the XV edition of P.I.W.O. Poznań Free Software Fest. The conference will take place on May 30th 2026 (Saturday), at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Adam Mickiewicz University (Morasko Campus).

This year's event is organized by Knyfyrtel Hackerspace Poznań together with Webrains Students' Scientific Association (Adam Mickiewicz University) and the Linux Academic Group (Poznań University of Technology). Supporting us are the Polish Linux User Group as well as the "Reszka" Free Software Foundation.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for talk and workshop proposals regarding free, libre and open source software. Both technical and community-focused topics are welcome. We will be happy to see submissions about:

programming,
cybersecurity,
hacking,
network and system administration,
DevOps,
hardware and electronics,
Linux gaming,
digital independence,
Free Software in education,
legal aspects of Free Software.

We do not accept submissions focused on proprietary technologies or otherwise unrelated to Free Software.

Joining forces: PyCon PL × PyPoznań track

This year, we are expanding the P.I.W.O. formula by introducing an additional track aimed specifically at enthusiasts of the Python programming language! This development was made possible through collaboration with PyCon PL organizers and with the PyPoznań community.

One of the event's three talk tracks will be dedicated to the Python. If your submission is related to this language – submit it through the additional CfP form (details below).

What can you propose?

We accept two kinds of proposals:

Talks – lectures given in one of the auditoriums. Each talk ends with a Q&A session. All lectures will be streamed live and recorded. Some time after the event, edited recordings will be made publically available on YouTube (and possibly other video platforms).
Workshops – interactive sessions in computer lab rooms, using computers provided by the Univsersity. The organizers will help you setting up any required software.

How to submit a proposal?

Submissions can be sent on Confreg. After logging in, select the event, click "Add new" and fill out the form.

General track → CfP form – general track
Python track (PyCon PL × PyPoznań) → CfP form – Python track

Selection process

All submissions will be rated in terms of educational merit, entertainment value, topic fit, and the speaker's level of experience. Our team aims to select an agenda that'll cover a wide variety of topics, while ensuring a high level of quality and remaining open to first-time speakers.

Deadlines

We will be accepting your proposals until April 19th 2026 (Sunday).
